More than 850 species of birds are found in Nepal, and a surprisingly a large number of these birds can be spotted in and around the Kathmandu Valley alone. The hills around the valley especially Nagarjun, Godavari and Phulchowki are popular bird watching areas and the Taudaha Lake on the way to Dakshinkali is fabulous for watching migratory water fowl during the winter months.
In the higher Himalayan regions are found the raptors and birds of prey of which there are numerous species. The various national parks like Chitwan and Bardiya harbor a wide variety of birds. But Koshi Tappu has better sightings of an incredible variety of both resident and migratory birds that come from as far away as Siberia. Nepal’s national bird is the lophophorous, Impeyen Pheasant locally called Danphe which is found in the Himalayan region. Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel,Overnight in Kathmandu
Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Today, you will visit the medieval palaces, temples, Buddhist Stupas, monasteries and courtyards, all with intricate wood, metal and stone works. The places of interest are Pashuapatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Kathmandu-Patan-Bird Watching in Godavari Botanical Garden Drive to Patan where you will visit the Durbar Square, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple. From here you will continue to Godavari. Check in hotel and after refreshment, bird watching trip in Godavari Botanical Garden
Godavari-Phulchoki Hill-Kathmandu After breakfast, leave with lunch pack and hike up the Phulchoki Hill. Full day birding. In the evening return to Kathmandu.
Birding in Nagarjuna Forest and Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. Return to hotel in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu-Chitwan ( 160km, 4 hrs). Drive to Chitwan National Park and check in the resort. In the afternoon, short Tharu Village Visit.
Birding at Chitwan Full day birding trip in different vegetations of the park, from wetlands to grasslands to salforest. Overnight
Chitwan-Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve A full day birding trip in the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. Overnight.
Flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival transfer to airport.
At leisure in Kathmandu.
Back to onward destination.
